So I've been practicing the 16th note rhythms above on the triads of the Major Scale.
I enjoy practicing the diatonic triads, I find it such a fun and creative way to practice, especially when you start adding scale steps above and below the chords tones. I feel that studying and internalizing the diatonic chords is the "secret" or "shortcut" to learning an instrument... and about music!
Notice how the rhythms are related. I think it makes for a good illustration as well as rhythms to practice for the different skill levels.
I plan on doing a demonstration video. What do you think?
Hey Lanny, I know that feeling. Give this a try. I think you'll start to hear things and get a new sense of "freedom" on your instrument. Try using scale steps above and below using pentatonics on the Major Scale. Here's a video that explains it. - https://youtu.be/TGWdE_7H0o8 Let me know if you get a chance. Thanks! :)
Gonna have to give this a try!!... I have pretty much stuck with playing and practicing with the pentatonic scale for so long that I‘m feeling as if I’m in a rut of sorts... Maybe a new style of practice will get the creative juices flowing once more!!
Keep on Thumpin’!
Lanny
