Improvising

Pick one of your favorite songs and find a rhythm or two you really like. It can be a vocal or instrumental line. Then pick a chord (triad or 7th) or a 4 note pattern (1235 for major/ 1b345 for minor) and think of this rhythm while you play the chord or pattern. You'll be surprised how melodically you'll start to play!
